José Hernández is a Grammy Award-winning musician, composer and music educator who founded the world-famous Mariachi Sol de México. His family has played mariachi professionally since the 1700s, and he has led the ensemble in sold-out concerts from Madison Square Garden to Beijing while collaborating with artists including Willie Nelson, Selena, and Luis Miguel. The group has also provided music for film soundtracks and performed for five U.S. Presidents. Hernández continues to advance mariachi through education programs in schools across 37 states and new compositions such as his recent Latin Grammy-nominated album 40 Aniversario Embajadores del Mariachi.
